I recently found that Windows 10 was dropping into a black screen at random intervals. The solution that worked was to format the system drive, reinstall Windows 10, and disable the Windows Update service.
I'm not sure if the problem is caused by Nvidia's drivers so I have not installed them this time. Until something forces me to use a Nvidia display drivers will just continue to use what is default.
Perhaps someone else can say whether using Nvidia drivers is the problem but I don't want have to reinstall everything again.
