Can't decide on a gaming monitor?!

I've been banging my head trying to decide on a higher end gaming monitor. I just built a new rig and have a 1080ti along with a 1060 to run a couple of 24" monitors. The 1080ti though is what I want a new monitor for. I'm not naive enough to think I can run a 4K at high refresh rates. I'm thinking 2560 x 1440. I might be talked into wide screen but I'm not sure what for. I play mostly MMO's and RPGs. Very few FPS shooters. Also not a fan of curved screens. I did buy a Asus ROG Swift PG279Q but upon turning it on, I got the yellow screen kiss of death. I guess this particular model is notorious for this problem. Really unfortunate and having paid $700, I was not motivated to exchange it and have the same thing happen again. I got it at B&H and while they did do the RMA, I was reluctant to try it again, have the same thing happen and then have to do another RMA. Not sure if they would go for that or not. Just really disappointed in Asus' quality control. Anyway, if anyone knows of another monitor similar to it that might fit the bill, lmk. Thanks.

Check if all games you would like to play support screen ratios other than 16:9. Otherwise you will have black bars. If high speed shooters are not your main priority, I would advise shopping for VA/IPS panels, maybe with g-sync. So some recommendations for your liking:
HP Omen 32" (W9S97AA)

Samsung C27HG70 27" and the MSI Optix MAG27CQ has the same 144Hz curved panel, review here:

BenQ PD3200Q, 32" (9H.LFALA.TBE) 3 years warranty, remote control

Or if you want to stick to the TN panel, take a iiyama G-Master GB2760QSU-B1 Red Eagle, it has a well earned good reputation.

The only G-Snyc variant I found is the...

The only G-Snyc variant I found is the very ASUS PG278QR you already had troubles with.
