Do both of these monitors run 144 Hz through" HDMI connection?

After discovering that the monitor I had recently bought would not go above 60 Hz, I was guided to section 7 of this site which describes monitors that could go 120 Hz or 144 Hz with only HDMI connection:

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/id-3675170/connect-120-display-construction.html

Now, Most of these monitors, except for two, are out of my price range. So, I do believe that these two monitors will produce 144 Hz or 120 Hz over HDMI, but before I buy either, I would like evidence that these two monitors would produce my desired refresh rate over HDMI, other than the evidence provided in the site or just the evidence provided but explained further. For example, the testing for the AOC monitor was done with a GTX 1080, whereas my laptop runs with a GTX 1060. If needed, the specs of my laptop including the ports are in my only other post. Thanks!

The two monitors:

AOC G2460PF 24”

In the Amazon Answers section of the MSI monitor, a customer recommends a DL DisplayPort to HDMI to achieve 144 Hz, will this work? Because in the previously mentioned article it says only 120 Hz max with HDMI connection.

In the Amazon Answers section of the AOC monitor, customers say only DisplayPort can achieve 144 Hz which makes sense because it says 120 Hz over HDMI in section 7.1 of the previously mentioned article yet again.

Edit: I thought I had figured it out and gotten the answers I needed, about to delete the thread, when I find myself here:

I made my way to this website while trying to decide which monitor I want. Now, under the "Frequencies" section, for the AOC monitor, it reads: "D-sub; HDMI - 1920 x 1080 @ 60 Hz" which made me come back here and ask one more time if this is true or not, as I do trust the evidence I was provided with by Toms Hardware, but I need clarification before I spend $200 on another monitor. Thanks again.

Yes, I have the G2460PF and it definitely does work at 1080p 120 Hz over HDMI. Although the manual states 60 Hz max (which is why specification sites also say the same; they don't test it, they just put what the manual says), it does work at up 120 Hz, though you need to set a custom resolution for any options above 60 Hz.

Perfect, so since you say you own the AOC monitor, would you recommend that over the MSI? Or are they virtually the same and it won't really matter whichever one I pick?
