Recommendations for 27" 4k FreeSync Monitor

MUST be no more than 25-1/2" wide (physical measurement) to fit inside my desk hutch.
I suppose that would be about 27" corner-to-corner
FreeSync a must. Cost is a slight issue.

Probably smarter to go 4k now (and 2k prices seem identical), but only running a RX 580 right now until Navi
Use is 80% office stuff + 20% gaming. Sharpness is way more important than ms response speeds

Historically, I've only bought either ViewSonic or Samsung for monitors, but is there another brand/model that I should be considering?

I'm not quite sure what you mean by 2k pricing to be identical as 4k. Regardless, you have a few options out there. You mention cost as an issue. How so? What budget are you working with?

Personally, I'd recommend a panel from either LG or BenQ. Both brands are good, but I came across two panels from LG for you: Both have IPS/FreeSync. The more expensive panel is due to higher image quality/color fidelity/brightness. They are both VERY good panels.
