Windows Update error

So I was using my PC last night and I was looking around in settings, I found that my Windows update had failed to install (2018-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4338819)) and the error code was 0x8000ffff, naturally, I went to search for a solution on Google but did not end up solving this, I also looked in windows defender and I saw that in the Device Performance and Health section that an app had stopped working and it is recommended that I use the troubleshooter to try to resolve it, but no matter how many times I clicked on "Open Troubleshooter", the program just didn't do anything. I am very confused about this whole ordeal and I'm considering reinstalling Windows as a last resort unless someone can help me with this.

clear out the windows update folder. if it gets to large or a download file is damaged you can get that error. if windows update errors out there a bad update.

Am I supposed to use the media creation tool or the Windows update assistant? If I'm supposed to use the update assistant I already have the 2018 April update
