Pulling out CPU without turning off PSU

I turned off my PC using Windows "Shut Down". I waited for my PC to shut off but I forgot to flip the power switch on the PSU to off when I pulled out my old CPU. When I place my new CPU in the socket, my PC turned on automatically. Did any of my 2 CPU get damaged?

Welcome to Tom's!
Unknown until you try them.

Something similar happened to me. I upgraded my R5 1600X to a R5 2600X, and the machine powered on as soon as I dropped the new CPU in. I switched off right away, of course (there was no cooler yet installed!) and fortunately after mounting the cooler and powering back on, everything was fine.
I have not yet attempted to re-use the CPU I pulled out, so I can't tell about that one.
