Windows 7 on one PC to Windows 10 on another

So I've built a new PC and installed Windows 10 with the Microsoft media creation tool. I've found a computer with Windows 7 on Craigslist for cheap, and to save a lot of money on an OS and get another hard drive at the same time, I'm considering buying it. My question is, will I be able to get the product key from the Windows 7 computer and activate my copy of Windows 10 on the one I built? Maybe a stupid question, but thanks for your time.

Small chance of maybe...

You would have to upgrade the Craigslist PC to win 10 and then transfer it to the new PC. Unless the version of windows installed on PC from Craigslist is retail, then you can't move it without making it win 10 1st. Its likely it has an OEM key, which means its tied to the motherboard.

Only way to move it would be to run the update process on that PC, and if it activates win 10, then you can follow the steps on the following link on the PC you updated and then the PC you want to move license to. - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/20530/windows-10-reactivating-after-hardware-change
