Possible Delidding Difficulties

I just ordered all my stuff to build my first pc from scratch. Before I install everything I was thinking about delidding the 8700K and using Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut Thermal Grease Paste to repaste it.

Is this recommended?

Any tips or suggestions?

Before I delid or anything I'm gonna install it and make sure it posts first just in case something is wrong with it. From what I understand, if you delid the chip, it voids the warranty.

For a novice and first timer, there's at least 50-50 chance of ruining it.

If you don't mind throwing away $350, go for it. Otherwise I'd probably practice on a couple, much older CPUs first.
