Upgrade to Zen (Gaming PC)

This is my actual Build :
Intel Core i3-8100
1080 8Gb Gainward
2x4 DDR4 2400MHz
Motherboard Z370 A-Pro

I found myself quite well with this build, I managed to run many games in 2k stable or even in 4k with some renouncement on graphic effects.
But now I have the budget to make an upgrade and after several years with Intel I had the idea to try an R7 2700 (changing motherboard of course)

Is it worth it with my current hardware?
Open to all advise!

If you don't do anything other than gaming, then I would say its best to stick with Intel. You already have a Z370 board so an unlocked processor (i5 8600k) would be best.

If you went Ryzen, you would need a New Mobo and possibly new RAM (Ryzen works better with higher speed memory)

Id just stay stick with Intel. You probably also want to upgrade to RAM to 16GB.

Games don't benefit from so many cores. I'd say an i5 or i7 would be the better choice.
Unless you plan on streaming.

it's hard to imagine choosing the 8100 with the 8400, 8600K , 8700/8700K available... especially paired with a GTX1080.

Get the 8600K or 8700K you should have gotten to start with :)

(and get more RAM, 8 GB is quickly becoming marginal)
