How to connect laptop to monitor and get 120/144hz

Hi, I bought a laptop with a HDMI 2.0 port and a Mini DisplayPort 1.2 port. The laptop screen itself is 120hz and I have a BenQ XL2411T 144hz monitor. I know that connecting using a HDMI cable won't work as the monitors' HDMI port is limited to 60hz. What way should I connect the laptop to the monitor? Would a Mini DP to DVI-D adapter work at 120/144hz?

According to newegg.com specs of the montior it has DVI as well. So I'd used mini display port to DVI adapter/cable. Something like this.

Would any adapter/cable do the job? I read a thread that said you need a good adapter to get 144hz which can be very expensive. If that's the case then I will probably sell this monitor and buy one with a display port.

How about an adapter like this? It says that it's an active adapter and has a bandwidth of 10.2Gbps. Would that be enough?

I don't think so, it's likely that it only converts to a Single-Link connection, and the 10.2 Gbit/s bandwidth is only when using a DVI to HDMI adapter.
