Monitor wont turn display after computer shut itself off.

Hey so I was in the middle of playing a game when suddenly my computer shut off. Shortly after it rebooted itself but this time the monitor wasnt coming on with the rest of the peripherals. Any suggestions or thoughts? I've been looking for answers but they're all answers for newly built rigs i've had mine for like 6-7 months so its not a wiring issue. Also if it means anything i havent turned it on in about 2-3 months not sure if that changes anything but i thought i'd throw it out there.

When you say the monitor isn't coming on, you mean it won't power on, or it does and it displays something like "no signal".

blow out any and all dust on motherboard, gpu, fans, everything. You may have power surge from dust collecting for several months. Clean it best you can and see if that helps.

There's a good chance the problem lies with the pc rather than the monitor or the peripherals. Like shknawe suggested, clean up your pc from dust. If this was a power surge hopefully the components remain undamaged.
