looking at 3 laptops
one is a gtx 1060 6gb with 120hz fhd ips panel
the other is a gtx 1060 6 gb 144hz fhd g-sync 50$ more
or gtx 1070 with a 144hz fhd g-sync 250$ more
for wow and rts games which is the better fit?
does the extra hz and g-sync make a difference?
is gtx 1070 worth it?

Solution
The 1070 laptop is definitely the best of the three you listed. You would see frame rates well into the 100’s on WoW and RTS games and utilize that 144Hz screen.

The 1060 variants are also great gaming PC’s judging by the specs. Honestly, the difference between 120Hz and 144Hz is hard to see to the average person. Odds are you wouldn’t even notice it.

If I were you, I would go for what my budget was most comfortable with. If you can fork over the extra $250 then go with it. If not, pick whichever 1060 laptop appeals to you most. For me, the extra $50 is well worth the G-Sync panel. Basically no stuttering or screen tearing and smooth gameplay at virtually any frame rate? Ya, worth it.

For WOW and RTS games 60 FPS is fine.
75,120,144 hz monitors are for fast action games where a slight delay in frame refresh means the difference in killing or dying.
The 1060 6gb can max most games at 1080p@60fpswith others like WOW, Fortnite etc at higher numbers.
