I can only get 120hz maximum refresh rate on my 144hz monitor.

So i have an Acer KG251QFbmidpx FreeSync Monitor that supports 144hz maximum refresh rate. My video card is an GIGABYTE R9 280X REV2.0, and my problem is that I can't get 144hz. In windows 10 settings it only shows up to 120hz, not 144hz. I've tried to make a custom resolution in amd radeon settings (1920x1080 @ 144hz) but it says my display does not support these custom settings. Oh, and I use my DUAL-Link DVI Cable that came with my new monitor. I've the latest AMD drivers, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Any idea guys why I can't get past 120hz??

Solution

Pixel clock 342,650 kHz is above the 330,000 kHz maximum of Dual-Link DVI. Try setting the timing standard to CVT Reduced Blank.

If that doesn't work, try manual with these settings:

H.Timing Total: 2056
H.Timing Front Porch: 24
H.Timing Sync Width: 32
V.Timing Total: 1098
V.Timing Front Porch: 3
V.Timing Sync Width: 5
H and V Polarity both positive
