Monitor not working properly

My monitor does not work properly. When i turn my computer on, my monitor (sometimes) comes on and after a few seconds green pixels appear and then the monitor goes black and says "no signal". This usually happens a few times before it gives up and stays black for the rest of my time on the computer. I have bought a new monitor and it works absolutely fine. It is 100% not the PC and not the DVI cable as they both work fine on my other monitor.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as to why this is happening and if there is any way to fix this issue.

Either your cable or your monitor is faulty, nothing more than that really
