Hi guys. I'm upgrading to a 3550x1440p monitor. To be exact:

Asus ROG Strix XG35VQ 35" (3440x1440) 100Hz 4ms VA FreeSync
ASUS ROG Swift PG348Q 34" (3440x1440) 100Hz 5ms IPS G-Sync

Now I'm stuck between which GPU I should choose as they are priced exactly the same in my country. The only thing holding me back from a gtx 1080 is that the gsync makes the one monitor a lot more expensive. I think I'll enjoy the freesync/gsync feature a lot since I play games like Arma and Ark a lot wich are very demanding titles but I also play some compitative games like csgo and Battlefield.

Should I go all in and go green team or save a bit and go red team. Is it true that the RX Vega 64 still uses a shit ton of power and and gives off a lot of heat?

True. Power usage and heat are the main points why I'd choose 1080 over Vega, even if that means getting a more expensive monitor.

After all, monitor is usually a component which doesn't have to be changed every year ;)

EDIT: You probably already know that, but 2080 will be out within a week or so. Might be worth to wait a while to see how benchmarks turn out. That card should be much better for 4k. With 1080, you won't be able to reach 100 fps in 4k (and likely even with 2080) unless you lower details, sometimes even a lot. But price is certainly on 1080's side.
