My current pc is have a graphics driver error preventing playing new-ish game, so I am considering building a new system mostly for gaming and looking for recommendations.

Budget: $1000-$1500

Purpose: gaming, work, sketchup, photo editing, nothing too hard core.

Games: ESO, world of warships, witcher 3, etc. Most importantly I do not play the newest games usually until GOTY comes out and I do very little competitive FPS games. Mainly RPG, single player FPS, etc.

Monitor: Will run at least one 1080P monitor, BUT I want to play on my 4k/HDR TV (Vizio P-Series). I know that is not for everyone, but if I purchase this it would be to play games in 4K on my tv and may be purchase a 4 monitor, outside of this budget. But being able to play games for a while in 4K with decent FPS on my TV is a priority.

Brand: I am okay with what ever, no real loyalty to any. Only caverat to this is a I am still considering a shield tv if they ever support dobly vision. But, the PC would be connected to TV via HDMI.

OS: I would have to get new OS, windows 10.

Other: If I do build my own, I do like RGB lights etc, but I also dont want to pay an arm and leg for them.

Time of purchase: So I am just getting started here, and honestly would likely wait until Black Friday before I made purchases. With the 2080/2070 coming out at a reasonable price, be good to wait for that, if will lower current prices if nothing else. This close to BF though, I just see the ability to save a substantial amount of money.

Build: I should also mention I am not set on building, I am looking into prebuilt as well. The warranty from costco is always appealing, and sometimes you can save a little coin in the end if you watch carefully.

Any other information needed please let me know. I thank you in advanced for any recommendation you may provide.

CHEERS!

I recommend this. Should be able to play your games at 4K just fine, but will definitely be overkill for 1080p. I suggest you upgrade to a 1440p or even 4k monitor sometime in the future if you're keen on pushing this thing to its limit. :p

I'd wait and ask this question about a week or two prior to getting the system, it's really going to come down to how the RTX 20XX series performs. Also if you don't want to build it I would still recommend buying the parts and then having a company such as Microcenter build it for you for around $100 as you'll get much better quality parts over a prebuilt.

May I ask why you don't want to build-your-own?

Fr the most part is is not difficult to build a PC, and it saves a ton of money to build it yourself.

Many of the popular prebuild companies take shortcuts in parts quality (especially power supplies) that end up making a PC that will not hold up over the long term. Plus some companies like Cyberpower and iBuyPower have a reputation for poor build quality on top of the shortcuts.

Thank you all for the information.

The build listed is excellent!

But, I certainly understand waiting until much closer. With the new benchmark for the 20XX coming up that could certain change things and change prices for sure. I am going to look closely to the 2070.

As for building, its not that I dont want to build its more the lack of warranty when you do. I have the dreaded nvidia driver error with my current rig (Display driver nvlddmkm stopped responding and successfully recovered) which is preventing almost all game play. If it was under warranty I could get it fixed. But I digress, you certain save money and I am a big fan of that.

The only other reason is parts creep, and all the pretty RGB colors that I want to add to it ;)

In the end I just want game in 4k and I am trying to figure out best way. At some piont might be better to wait and get an X Box X, but I would like to keep PC gaming when possible.

That is a very good point. I do look forward to to trying to build and I think my 6 year wold think ti is cool. Really the only reason I would buy prebuilt is if a good deal came along. That is what happened last time I bought one, happen to find one like $600 off, so it was worth it.

Looking at all the info, my biggest concern now it can a decent reasonable price PC get good FPS at 4k or should I wait a generation and get an X or something in the mean time.

Again, thanks for all the help.

decent fps at 4K with all the bells and whistle on needs a 2080ti. High settings will need a GTX1080ti, a 1080 or Vega can do it at medium to medium-high settings, a 1070 or RX580 can do it at medium-low as long as you are looking at better than 30 fps rather than 60.
XBox One X and PS4 Pro upconvert to 4K at 25-30 fps.

Correct my if I wrong but the X box play 4k/30 fps native, the Xbox one S upcoverts to 4k correct.

I guess what I am struggling with at this point is the price to get 4k, just seems extreme. I am not sure I will notice so much difference in the end. I am curious to see where the 2070 lands on this front, as it seems to be more economical option.

To be honest I am still not sure if I can tell so much difference between high setting and ultra, what really is the huge difference.

Thanks again!

The Xbox one X will do native 4k, granted I believe at 30 fps. At this time though, I am just not sure 4k is worth the up tick in price. It will all depend when the 2070 comes out and what it can do. If it cant do 4k well it will hopefully push the 10XX series down some more. Please I am waiting to see what the black friday deals will be as well before I pull the trigger on anything.
