Firstly I'll be an owner of a 2080 this week and I'm looking to pick up a brand new monitor BOTH for PC (DP) and console (HDMI). I'm considering going for alienware AW2518HF (link below). Now I'm wondering if it's worth me picking up a g sync model at all and pay the £100-£150 premium?

https://www.amazon.co.uk/Alienware-AW2518HF-Monitor-Response-Free-Sync/dp/B074JDKN3Q/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1537291708&sr=8-1&keywords=alienware+240hz

Also if you guys have any recommendations for 144hz/240hz monitors I'd be grateful! I'd like a monitor with good colours (as much as you can get out of a TN panel) but also great competitive features such as benqs black equalizer. Although I do play a lot of csgo, quake, overwatch est I also enjoy games like the witcher, metro, skyrim and the list goes on :).

Solution
They're pretty close to the same though if I were to choose, I'd probably go with the Alienware version. To each their own. Enjoy your new display no matter what you choose.

G-Sync is my number one priority when shopping for a new gaming monitor. G-Sync is an absolute game changer. Anyone who owns an Nvidia card should never consider using a gaming montior that doesn't have G-Sync...seriously! Other options that I consider important are color gamut, contrast ratio (HDR included if available), and response times. DO NOT BUY A VA PANEL MONITOR!! They are terrible and a plagued by ghosting and slow response times. As for a recommendation, it all depends on your budget. If the sky is the limit, get the Acer Predator X27 4K HDR 144Hz IPS monitor for $2K. If you are a bit poorer like me, consider the Dell AW3418DW UWHD (3440 x 1440) 120Hz IPS monitor, or Acer Predator XB271HU WQHD 165Hz IPS monitor, which may be your choice as it is more focused towards FPS gaming.

I'm considering picking this up off amazons warehouse. As long as it doesn't come with dead pixels I'm happy
