New i7 8th gen Processor makes mobo in standby

Hi, I have a new i7 8th gen processor. My mobo is Asus Z170a. I tried to boot with the new processor only to find the power led green which indicates standby mode. I then swap with the old processor i7 7th gen kabylake and everything works fine. Is my new processor Busted?

no z170 doesn't support 8th gen Intel CPU's. only 6th and 7th gen. you need a z370 MB
