Hey, everyone. I've been waiting about 10 years to build my dream machine, and I think I've got my parts picked out. I don't have anyone I can bound ideas off of so I thought I'd see if you guys could give me some feedback on my choices. What I'm after is a "1080p killer" that can support just about any game I throw at it.

CPU: Intel Core i7 8700K
Cooling: Corsair H100i
Motherboard: Asus - Prime Z370-A ATX LGA1151
RAM: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4-3200 288-pin DIMM
GPU: MSI GTX 1080 GAMING X 8G
PSU: Corsair AX760

Bonus question: Do I need thermal paste for a watercooled setup?

Any feedback would be great. Thank you for the support!

Thank you. This topic has already been really helpful for me.

I did some research, and the GPU only needs 500W. Would a 550W PSU be sufficient for the whole PC?

Thank you, Mr. Yeti. I have a dumb question. Let's say I was deadset on the i7 8700K. How would the new CPU's affect my choice? For example would the i7 8700K be cheaper in the near future because of these new CPU's? Also did Intel announce release windows for these new processors?

Thanks for the help so far everyone!

The new CPUs are officially out right now but you likely will not be able to purchase one for the first week or so, due to low stock and very high prices. Im not sure how the new release will affect the current-gen prices, we'll have to wait and see. But if you are dead set of 8700k by all means go for it, you will not miss out on too much performance, compared to 9th gen i9 and i7.
