Back up fails

Ever since I updated Windows 10 my computer now fails to back up to my external hard drive

Make and model External drive? How connected?

Any status lights on the external hard drive?

Any error messages, pop-up windows, etc..?

Does the external drive appear in Disk Manager, Device Manager, File Manager?

Power and data connections fully and firmly connected?

Have you tried another known working connection cable? Or another port (e.g., USB)?
