Okay hello,

So i just bought a new pc and installed windows 10 lite on it. i have a laptop with an ssd and windows 10 full version on the laptop. I was wondering if i could remove the ssd from the laptop, plug it into the new desktop and select it as boot drive and it just working fine with windows 10 full version or if the windows 10 from the ssd wont work since im switching computers and from what ive read the license is in the motherboard or something. so the question is if the windows 10 full version will work or not. oh and btw, since when i bought the laptop it already had windows installed i dont have a key or anything like that.

As a secondary drive? Sure. It's just another SATA III SSD.
Wipe it clean, and use as desired.

my bad, i realized its not called windows 10 lite and its actually just a windows 10 home thats not activated. realizing that i could easily activate it with a digital license. so now the question is just if its possible to use the laptop ssd in the desktop for storage.

Do i wipe it clean after putting it into the desktop cause i assume its impossible to wipe it clean from the laptop since windows cant really delete itself?

Exactly.
Disk Management, and delete all partitions on it.
Reformat, and give it a drive letter.

1. A preinstalled OS license from the laptop probably won't work in the new desktop

2. The Insider program now requires you to already have a valid Win 10 license. It is no longer a full freebie.

Hi Daniel. I'm Greg, an installation specialist and 9 year Windows MVP, here to help you.

You cannot build-activate Insider Previews any longer. You need a license.
------------
you need to activate it using your Windows 10 license. You cannot be insider if you do not have a license.
------------
You need to have either a Windows 10 license or a valid key for Windows 7 or Windows 8 that is not in use.
------------

With that, his laptop license might work.
But as said, it is no longer a full freebie. You need a previous license of some sort.
