Hi Nice people!

I have realtek rtl8723be 802.11 bgn wifi adapter in my windows 10 HP PC. I am trying to get the Wake On Lan (WOL) function to work; but it is blurred as you can see here: https://ibb.co/jwfFbL

Drivers are up to date and tried everything I can find. Does this adapter support WOL in the first place? or can it work?

Any info or ideas are appreciated. Thanks

Yes. I was wondering if that is a limitation in my wifi adapter or something that can be reversed as I have seen posts of people saying WOL was greyed out for them after upgrading to windows 10 (or whatever reason) and some successfully got it to be available again.

i went to my wireless adapter settings, found the advanced tab and scrolled down to wake on magic packet and set it to enabled.
now when i go to the menu you showed the item is not greyed out.
(power management tab, item can now be selected and the text is changed)

should give you a start at getting it to work.

------------------------

since it is a wireless device, it would be wake up on wireless wan (WoWLAN)
i have never tried this for wireless, only for wired. I did a quick google search and see some indications that it does not work like WOL, will see if i can find the microsoft spec

this link indicates you have to enable feature in bios and run a powercfg command to enable the device to wake the computer.
