So my desktop pc broke, and I want to get it fixed through a store that fixes computers. There is no guarantee that my desktop pc can get fixed. But i want to transfer my files and other stuff from the hard drive from the broken computer to my dad's desktop pc, using a docking station, so the computer store clerk won't be able to get to those files. Should i do that? Or am I being paranoid?

Depends how worried you are, and how important the files are. There's nothing on my PC I'd care about anyone seeing and everything that's important to me is backed up somewhere else so I personally wouldn't bother (but then I'd fix it myself too).

What you suggest should work fine, so if it worries you do it. Also a lot of repair places like to wipe hard drives and reinstall windows so you could lose stuff. Really I think many of them are a bit too quick to go that way, but it is often an easy fix for software issues that can take forever to track down otherwise.
