Want to switch to 1440p 144hz gaming what should i upgrade?

my current system
i7-2600k 3.4 ghz
Asus P8P67 motherboard
16gb (4x4) ddr3 ram (1600 Mhz)
Asus R9 290 OC

I currently want to get a 1440p 144hz monitor with a rtx 2070 to be able to pump out good fps for most modern games, also would like to run csgo and league of legends at 144 hz mostly league though. Would i have any bottlenecks with these upgrade or should i change my cpu, mobo, and ram first? Maybe i should look into overclocking as well but i have no clue how to do that, maybe i could attempt to do a small over clock to 4-4.2 ghz since i rather not break anything.

What's the average frame-rate while you playing games with your current setup?
What type of monitor are you using?

If your current average frame-rate is higher than 75fps, then I would upgrade the monitor since you will notice a difference (smoothness) with a high speed 144Hz monitor.

Also take in consideration that, even though the RTX 2070 cost $100 more, the difference when compared to the GTX 1080 is around 3-6 FPS and in some games the GTX 1080 is still faster.
