Howdy, folks!

I'm having a tough time deciding between the RTX 2070 and GTX 1080 TI and was hoping to hear some outside perspectives. What I want is to be able to game at 2560x1440 144hz (possibly 165hz), and know that the card will be able to do so with most games released for the next two years. I don't care about having ultra settings on games though and am more than happy to turn down most settings. And I know that nobody can predict how resource intensive AAA games will be in two years, but I'm faithful that we can make some educated guesses.

So, what are your thoughts? Do you think the RTX 2070 will be able to handle upcoming AAA titles a year from now at 2560x1440 144 FPS [with graphics turned down]? Or is it a better option to shell out the extra money (which isn't preferable) for the GTX 1080 TI?

Cheers!

Tough one to judge.

A 1080TI is ~15% faster (on average, at 4K) vs a 2070

So on raw horsepower alone, is the 'better' card.

BUT, there's a 36% price hike for a 1080TI vs a 2070 ($680-700 vs $500).

If you're comfortable with turning down settings etc, and don't always have to strive for Ultra, a 2070 should be completely capable for what you want - at a better price.

Um, you switch back and forth here, are you talking about the RTX 2080, or the RTX 2070?

The RTX 2080 is competitive with the 1080Ti, and the RTX 2070 is slower than the 1080Ti.
