RTX 2070 or GTX 1070 ti

Hey guys I'm currently looking into buying a new gpu for 1440p 144hz gaming. I'm thinking about buying either a 2070 or a 1070 ti (yes I am aware of the fact that neither of these cards will hit 144hz in all games at max settings). Is the 2070 worth the extra money and would there be noticeable gains in performance compared to the 1070 ti? For those wondering why I'm not considering the 1080 that is because I simply cannot find one anywhere for a good price and appear to be sold out in a lot of places.

From the research I have done the RTX 2070 has around a 14% increase in effective speed and around 20% increase in user benchmarks. There also seems to be anywhere around a 10% - 20% increase in game performance depending on the game at 1440p. From the game benchmarks I have seen the RTX seems to get a minimum of 60 FPS on modern games at 1440p but can go up to around 100 FPS (obviously depending on the game). The 1070 Ti ranges from around 55 FPS to 90 FPS. You should notice about the same improvements assuming the rest of your system is not too bad. As for whether the cost is worth it, that is completely down to whether you think that sort of improvement is worth the money.
