is 1200 the budget?
looks or performance, which is most important 2 u?
yes the parts will work but there a few issues.
Slow RAM, Monster CPU and an entry level GPU.
granted IDK your needs vbut I feel a system should be balanced and this is CPU heavy.

I would go this way.

twice the RAM at a higher speed, 8 core, 16 thread CPU, a GPU with more RAM and better performance at 1080p. I also added a 2 TB HDD for mass storage. the GPU breaks the black/white color scheme though.

feel free to disregard.
cheers

Depends on what games and screen resolution you are targeting. A bit lopsided, either way. If your primary goal is gaming you want to spend more on the GPU then the CPU.

If you have a $1000 ish budget then Intel isn't the way to go either. You can get an r5-2600 with the same core count as the 8700k for less than half the price.

Though getting an i7-8700k now will probably let the computer last many years as a good gaming platform. Just add new GPUs when it doesn't do what you want.

Here is a modified Intel build with a white GPU and white memory:

Here is a more ideal build for gaming: basically a 1070Ti vs a GTX1050Ti or the GTX1060 in the above build.

Hmm, didn't know they made a white gammaxx 400, I will keep that in mind. It is my annual buy a spare CPU cooler just because. Though I did end up using the last gammaxx 400 I got to spiff up an OEM machine.

32GB of memory, just seems like a waste unless there is some serious multitasking going on. Even the R7-1700, though as tempting as it is on sale, is a little off. I think for gaming the improved clock speed and better memory compatibility are worth getting a 2000 series. Wasn't until the last year or two that games started consuming more than 8GB, hopefully that trend continues as is. You can always add more ram later too and save the money now.
