Hey to whoever is reading this. I've been using this system for a year or so now and was wondering if I should overclock it for a better overall performance.

Part List:

Motherboard: MSI Z270 GAMING PRO CARBON LGA 1151 ATX Motherboard

Processor: Intel Core i7 7700K Quad Core LGA 1151 4.2 GHz Unlocked CPU Processor

Graphics Card: Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming OC 11GB Video Card

Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws V 16GB (2x 16GB) DDR4 3200MHz Memory Black

SSD: Samsung 960 EVO 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD MZ-V6E500BW

Monitor: AOC AGON AG322FCX 31.5" FHD 144Hz FreeSync Curved Gaming Monitor

Water Cooler: Cooler Master Seidon 240P 240mm LED AIO Liquid CPU Cooler

With those parts in mind, is it worth it to overclock my system and how would I go about beginning the overclocking process as I am new to this. Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

Hi samaru :)

Why not get the best performance from your CPU and i7 7700K is a good CPU for Overclocking. How far you can go will be determined by the CPU voltage required and the Silicon Lottery. If your lucky you may achieve 5GHz

To begin with, read up on some Overclocking guides. It should be done in Bios and not a windows third party app.

Here are a few guides: https://www.overclock.net/forum/5-intel-cpus/1621347-kaby-lake-overclocking-guide-statistics.html
https://edgeup.asus.com/2017/kaby-lake-overclocking-guide/

A few basic principles and tips are: Do the Overclock in 200Mhz stages and stress test each phase of your OC.
You will be looking at temperatures under load and to establish stability with Core voltage.
Use your Bios multiplier for simple Overclocking.
Find the best LLC (Load Line Calibration) to prevent voltage droop when under load.

Good luck and any issues ?, Just ask
