FPS lower than Hz

Does it look ok when fps a bit lower Hz(100 - 120 fps vs 144Hz)? Is there any sort of discomfort?
Will it be better to play on 60Hz with locked fps(60 too)?

More about fps lower
  1. listen to your eyes. try them and find what works for you.
    I have older hardware so I play @ 60/60
  2. Unless you have freesync or gsync, you will have screen tearing when your fps is lower than refresh rate, whereas with 60fps v-synced to 60 Hz you won't. Which is better depends on what games you play and personal preference.
  3. So with freesync and gsync gaming is enjoyable and nothing will disturb me despite fps < hz
    Right?

Free/G sync just eliminates screen tearing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Screen_tearing

Screen tearing isn't the end of the world, but yes, Free/G sync will provide the optimal experience if your fps is less than refresh rate.
