AORUS X299 gaming (rev 1.0) and processor question

I wasn't paying close enough attention on a spending spree. I got the
GIGABYTE X299 AORUS Gaming (rev. 1.0) LGA 2066 Intel X299 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.1 ATX Intel Motherboard
along with the
Intel Core i7-7800X Skylake-X 6-Core 3.5 GHz LGA 2066

After post-purchase review I was mortified that the description of the Mobo states "4 cores," but the processor is 6.

My questions are:
1. Will the processor work at all?
2. Will it work with all 6 cores going?
3. What, if any, changes would be needed to get the mobo to acknowledge all 6?

Four "cores" - could you mean four DIMM slots? If so, then that has nothing to do at all with the processor and you're good to go.
Or you may be looking at the newegg discription "Intel Core i7-7740X and i5-7640X (4 Cores) in the LGA2066" which just is an example of some processors that are compatible with this specific motherboard, one of which (i5-7640X) happens to have four cores. This doesn't have anything to do with how many cores the mobo will "acknowledge". The CPU socket is LGA 2066 on both the motherboard and the processor you're looking at, so they will definitely work together, and the motherboard will acknowledge all six cores.
