Hello, everyone!

I'm just wondering, which monitor should I choose? Here are my options:

  • • ViewSonic Gaming VX2458-C-MHD  (144Hz, 1080p, FreeSync, 24", Curved)

    • AOC Gaming Q3279VWF (75Hz, 1440p, FreeSync, 32")

I will mostly play FPS and Racing games, 60-75 FPS are way more than enough for me, been playing games at under 30 FPS all my life lol

Even tho the size of the AOC monitor concerns me
(͠≖ ͜ʖ͠≖), maybe I wont be able to see everything that is on screen, but that significant boost in resolution would be awesome.

If somebody is wondering, I will get an Sapphire R9 Fury. (4GB HBM)

Found an good deal for it, ~180$.

Thanks in advance!

For FPS/Racing games I'd probably opt more for the 1080P/144hz...but have you considered 21:9 ultrawide? I think your GPU would pair well with a 2560x1080P/75hz/IPS/Freesync monitor. As long as your games support 21:9 natively I'd highly recommend it. Also the vertical height is the same as a 24" 16:9 monitor.

Says 60hz but's it's actually 75hz.
I'd prob go for the 1440p 75hz, but the problem is not the monitor. It's the GPU you are thinking of using. It's a great GPU in it's day. At 1440p high settings it struggles for 60fps sustained. It's the 4gb vram.

it might fair better at 1080p, defo not 144hz/fps though. What are your system specs? CPU plays a big part at 1080p, at 1440p not so much.

Dint really think about getting an ultrawide monitor!

Heard that the LG monitor you listed can be "overclocked" to 75Hz, right? Aint really that sure if it is 60Hz or 75Hz.

Do you have that same monitor, hence you told me it is 75Hz?

I have the same exact model but it's the 34" version, not the 29". I absolutely love mine, the 75hz is smooth enough for me for my games (mostly MMO's/Single player with some FPS and games such as the Division). I had a previous 1080P/144hz and I prefer ultrawide over it. Also there's no overclocking involved, it's just listed wrong as the choice for 75hz is under the display adapter settings in Windows. This monitor does have HDR and games such as Destiny 2 support it however I think it looks better off.
