Is it possible to have an input displayed w/in another input?

Recently I've been wanting to be able to share my monitor between two different devices, though ideally, I'd want to be able to do so without having to manually switch inputs.

What I wanted to know is: is it possible to have the display for my second device displaying within a window of some sort? Sort of akin to how a virtual machine runs as in a window rather than demanding its own input if that makes sense?

Yes, this is a feature called "picture-in-picture" (PiP). Look for monitors with this feature (or "Picture-by-picture" (PbP) if you want side by side rather than a small window covering up part of the "main" signal which is what PiP does)
