I'll try to narrow my broad question.

I'm trying to motivate my 14yo son into tech: is there any site, paid or not, to joy ride him into stuff such as programming, robotics. Even it it means buying stuff, such as robots, programs and such like.
Any recommendation will be welcome.

What does he already like to do?

Instead of pushing him into "tech", or programming or whatever, leverage what he already likes to do.

For instance, if he likes games, look into game level design.
Or if he likes building things, a 3D CAD program might be the ticket.

Leverage the tech aspect of the already existing interests.

I am a teen myself and have been forced to use these sites by CS classes at school. I love to code, but a lot of the teen coding sites make me feel like all the color is fading from the world and my soul is in a blender set to puree.

Anyway, I do know of a few coding sites made for adults (or anyone, really) that are fantastic. My favorite is code academy, which has a built in IDE and feedback system. You can also use courses on Udemy.

Video gmaes can be a great motivator for coding. I learned Lua just by reading the handbook because it was used to create addons for a game I used to play.

Granted, not many teens are as obsessed with programming as I am.
