[SOLVED] Computer and Monitor Compatibility Problem

Just purchased a new HP Windows 10 Pavilion Desktop 590-p0066 computer. Trying to set it up to work with an older monitor, Samsung model #2280HD. For some reason I cannot get the full screen to show up on the computer after changing all the display resolution settings on the computer. Depending on what display setting I put it on either the left side is cut off and the bottom looks fine; or on the other side of the spectrum if I reduce the display settings so that I can see everything on the computer there is alot of black to the left and right of the screen. Anybody know what I should do to get it to work?

Use the displays menu to position and size the image to the screen once you get the resolution set in windows.
