Need help picking new CPU!

Hey so I've been wondering about buying a new CPU to replace my i7-6700k I have a 1080ti GPU and want to upgrade my case and motherboard and CPU to get the best bang for my buck. My question was should I go with a i7-8700k or 9th gen intel or should I wait to see what AMDs ryzen 9's have to offer I just want some really nice performance without spending $600 on a intel cpu because thats just a ripoff at this point.

Wait and see what Ryzen offers. Rumors look very good, but they are just rumors.

In the meantime, what do you do with it that you want more power than what the 6700k is offering?

Well it kinda is getting old and it bottlenecks my gpu a little bit so I cant get its full performance outta it.
