¿Cleaning compound?

Hello people
Can anyone tell me of a safe and easy way to clean my old compuond from my CPU? I'm gonna switch my heatsink and I want to add some silver... Just bear in mind I live in Mexico so nothing of strange materials not available... I was thinking if I could use something like alcohol and some cotton... ¿?... did I blew it?
Ok, just give me some tips, ok?

And also, how recomendable would be an Antec Jetcool-Athlon? My CPU is an Athon 1.4 FSB266. Would it keep me better cooled (with the help of the silver grease) thank my actual crapy CoolerMaster )don't ask the model, it's just a big one) My CPU runs at 62 C at startup!
Also I would like to know if those big fans that fit inside the case over your cards and CPU are any good.
That's all... sorry it's so long, I'm sick of my hot PC!
Thank you!

I used some isopropyl alcohol with some toilet paper  to clean my core, I think cotton will also work. Also take a look at this guide of Arctic Silver: http://www.arcticsilver.com/arctic_silver_instructions.htm.

Case fans can help you to get the hot air out of your case, which will lower the ambient temp inside the case. A lower case temp will lower the temps of all componets inside it, included your CPU.

Do not make illegal copies of this post

The Jetcool series will in fact be worse than your current Coolermaster. If your temperatures are already that high, I would recommend spending a few bucks and picking up either the Swifttech MCX-462 or Alpha PAL-8045

 Have you ever tried cooking an egg on your HSF? Tasty.

I use Acetone... I mentioned it once before on this board and got a few opposing the use of it... But???
I've been usin Acetone, sparinly, on a clean cotton cloth, for years now(Since 486 days) and never had a problem. Its a great cleaning solent, cuts the clear, white, or silver compound quickly and easily... Sometimes the old grease is nasty and excessive... Acetone gets it good and fast!
Don't go crazy with it... just dampem the cloth with the acetone and gently clean the surfaces... Cuts the old grease easily and leaves no film... Don't think you'll have a problem... And bein super clean, new paste gives good thermal transfer.... Works fo me!

Do you know where can I get any of those?
I was thinking on the jetcool because is the only one I've seen that seems good enough.
Are you sure it's worse than my coolermaster? I've got few faith on that piece of aluminium!

Thank you guys, I think I'll go ahead with acetone or alcohol and some cuetips. Now I just gotta make sure that this will actually improve my temps.

Trust me, do NOT go with the Jetcool. Looks nifty and such, but from what I have seen the construction is terrible.
