Hi, this is my first thread so sorry in advance for anything I miss out,
Budget is $630
I game ocassionally but do not want GPU advice currently and it is not being included in the budget.
Also not included in budget is Win 7, disc drive and case as I'm fine with these
So the £400 has to cover:
- CPU (Intel SB or AMD BD but plz no arguing over brands unless it's constructive)
- RAM
- PSU
- Motherboard
- CPU cooling (but only up to £20 ($30) if needed)
- Hard drive (don't use much space so SSD suggestions are welcome

PC will be used mostly for video converting / processing but small bits of gaming here and there if that helps.
Thanks in advance :)

Hi ROBI_G

I just bought a cracking bundle:

As seen in Micro Mart Magazine: Our latest Intel i5 2500k Overclocked bundle has been getting rave reviews and it certainly packs a punch for the price! We've overclocked it from it's stock 3.30GHz up to a whopping 4.50GHz, giving it unmatched performance for the price!

BUNDLE SPECIFIATIONS
Intel® Core™ i5-2500K, 3.30GHz - Overclocked up to 4.5GHz!
Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 Motherboard (Socket 1155)
16GB (4x4GB) Corsair Vengeance Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz
Arctic Cooling Freezer 13 CO CPU Cooler
Pre-assembled, Professionally overclocked & ready to use!
Exclusive 3 years warranty!

all for £363.97 inc. VAT

or just £324.98 inc. VAT but with 8GB (2x4GB) Corsair Vengeance Dual Channel DDR3 1600MHz

you might be able to get your PSU and HDD with the £75.02...

you can see the deal here :

Hope this helps.

That is one tight budget! I note you didn't include a case in your list of required parts, so I've not added that. Also, you said $630 or £400? I've gone for the £400 budget as I'm in the UK...here's what I've put together:

https://secure.scan.co.uk/aspnet/Shop/SavedBasket/Show....

£396.91 for this, which includes:

CPU: i5-2500K. For video-editing, I'd prefer an i7-2700K, but your budget doesn't allow it. There are AMD parts as well, which might be cheaper with more cores, but I believe the overall performance of the i5-2500K is better, especially if gaming is in your future.

RAM: 2x4GB, you shouldn't need more than this for the time being.

HDD: 320GB spindle-based drive. You don't have the budget for an SSD of the size I think you'd need in this build. You want at least a 120GB drive for the OS and programs, and that would be double the price (ish).#

Motherboard: Z68 mobo, with some overclocking features.

PSU: 530W for Be Quiet!, a good manufacturer.

I've not included a CPU cooler as you'll be fine for stock right now. Later, if you decide to overclock, get something like the Hyper-212 which will give you adequate cooling for reasonable overclocks.

Hope this helps. :)
