what kind of price range flexibility do you have for your mobo? it appears you are spending some $ with the gtx280 and you are considering SLI for them? based on your price range for the mobo there could be some other recommendations.

Good point bdollar - if you're going to spend that much on a GPU, why not make sure you at least get PCI 2.0 and full x16 lanes?

I have the 780i and love it. I would get an X38/X48 and an ATI GPU, but it's totally up to you.

680i is not very good o.c Q6600. I have a ASUS P5N-E, and can only do 3.0g max with it. then i returned it and get a evga 780i one, and get 3.2g easily. i can even boot at 3.6g, but it is getting too hot.

i don't know the difference between 750i and 780i, is it 2 way SLI vs 3 way SLI?

i would suggest you not to go 680i chipset. it is bugged.

hopefully you can get some more opinions. i don't know much about the 750i but i do know that i have yet to see someone considering dual gtx 280s with that board. 780i is much more common. but i'm not the one to say so hopefully others will join in. sorry. :)

mmm my only question is that the slots are to close to use sli with the 750¡(for big cards) and i heard the sata ports arent working for optical drives.... but i liked the 680¡ has three pcie slots my only complain is not having 2.0 and i dont know how much stability i can get and i heard is to bugged but the 750 is bugged too ...confusing:S

there has been some nasty stuff on the 680i, i wouldn't even consider that as an option. but i don't know if anything was really fixed with the 750i or the 780i for that matter. i haven't heard much about either so i don't know. heard some good things about the 790i. but i still think most people are going intel for their sli configurations. i think you should definitely get more scoop. i would either recommend starting a post with the amount of $$ you can spend on a mobo and asknig for advice, putting in that post the rest of your system config or i would start a thread asking for advice on your whole build (and put what your total budget is) and within it put that you are unsure of mobo. this is probably the best way because people can give advice that may save you money in one place and allow you more choices on a mobo.

or just do it on this thread. full scoop so people can give advice.
