I'm in Wales UK, building a PC for my dad, he's gonna be playing all kind of games on 1080p but he also work on the PC as webdesigner and light things like that, (he's using a 5yr old mid grade laptop...)
I bought a cm 120 advance ( not sure about the name) bundled with a 500 w cooler master psu, I know that cm for psus is not great but still ok... and I already have a 1080p 22 in monitor (90£)
be building it in 2 weeks Max and buying everything on ebay UK (not my choise)

so: 360£ left what sbhould I get? a 7870 is going to be the core of the build and the slowest CPU that will not going to bootleneck it is going to be fine (i3 2120?) and 8gb of ram is going to be well enough ... I was thinking about the i3 3220 but then I will need a sandy CPU to up the BIOS because the h7x mobos are exepensive.. haven't looked at amd yet, was thinking about buying a smaller psu until I bought the deal, but now and is doable... I consider both and and Intel...
I have hdds for storage so a small sad would be nice but not a must, and I don't need mouse, keyboard, speakers...
thank you

I know that cm for psus is not great but still ok
>> i doubt it is OK... too many ppl in this forum came and complained their problematic pc and had cm psu
i3+7870 is okay, get ivy bridge because of pcie 3.0 :)

well, thats bad news... what kind of problems people have with the psu? can you link something, now I already have it... is the situation is that bad that i have to buy a new one?

i am sorry i cant spend time digging/searching old threads. but they have these problems with bad PSU (mostly coolermaster/unknown brand) :
- cant boot
- shutdown while intense gaming
- shutdown at heavy cpu work
- GPU killed

that ps is horrible and could destroy ur whole system.

pci-express3 works on i3s also :p
