Approximate Purchase Date: August 2013
Budget Range: Up to approx. £1500. Willing to go to £2000 if performance considerably better
System Usage from Most to Least Important: Primarily gaming and recording gameplay, but also video editing, web design/creation and general internet browsing and watching YouTube videos etc.
Are you buying a monitor: Yes, but this is outside of the budget and do not need advice on this.
Parts to Upgrade: New build, so currently no parts. I have some DDR2 ram, but DDR3 would be better to use for this?
Do you need to buy OS: No
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Any UK based computer store.
Location: Colchester, Essex, England.
Parts Preferences: Intel preferred, but AMD if it means better performance for the same price
Overclocking: Yes
SLI or Crossfire: Maybe. Is this recommended? Not too sure what this means.
Your Monitor Resolution: 1680x1200 or 1920x1080, depending on which monitor i choose to get.
Additional Comments: This is a new build, and i am new to building PCs. I know how to, but am unsure which components to buy. As i said, im going to be using it mainly for gaming and recording gameplay.
Any advice? Don't need to 'overkill' it, but a computer that would be able to play resource demanding games would be very good.
And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: Why am i upgrading? Because curently i have a laptop (HP G62) which is unable to play many games easily (It lags playing minecraft with low quality settings) and so would like to build a desktop for gaming etc.
I currently do not have any components for it, so need advice on what to get. As i said, the monitor i will use is being sorted out separate to this.
I also already have a 5.1 sound system that i am going to use with it.
Thank you for your help in advance,
Ben.
