Advice on a new system, budget £1800

I have a budget of £1800 to build a new gaming rig. I have been playing PC games since I was 15 (now 21), and although this is quite some time working with components and upgrades to my systems over the years, I still have little knowledge on what is best, and what is just over-priced.

I want to buy it from PC Specialist; a UK web-based custom PC Company. Here is what I have included so far:

CPU - i7 3930K (3.2Ghz) 12MB Cache
Motherboard - ASUS P9X79 Pro: Intel Socket LG2011
RAM - 16GB (4x4GB) Quad-DDR3 2133MHz X.M.P (Kingston HyperX Genesis)
G-Card - 4GB Nvidia GeForce GTX680 2 DVI
Hard Disk - 2TB 3.5" SATA-III 6GB/s HDD 7200RPM 64MB Cache

Power Supply: Corsair TX650 V2-80 Plus Bronze
CPU Cooler - Intel certified liquid cooler for LG2011

Case: COOLERMASTER HAF 912 Plus

Brings me to £1673

My question is simply, what have I chosen there that is simply overpriced and glorified, and what do you think I could include that could make the PC better overall? I.E. Am I paying for something with a big price tag due to its label or because it actually performs well?

Also I would like to hit the £1800 if possible, so if you think I could spend more on certain items and components please let me know. Ideally I wanted to get a 3D monitor with glasses, but I'm not sure if I'd rather blow it all out on a better PC rather than the perk of 3D gaming.

Thanks in advance!

you are overdoing everything.

and dont be lazy. build your own rig or be scammed

much cheaper, yet will perform about as well. has a 120hz monitor for 3d as well

you dont need fast ram or lots of ram
x79 is useless for gaming
intel liquid coolers suck. all closed loop coolers suck
no need for a 680 when a 670 performs about as well. and you can easily overclock the msi power edition gtx670
you have a non-modular power supply
the 912 plus looks weak compared to my R4
and you have no SSD

oh and for my build, buy the power supply at overclockers.uk

Thanks for pointing out my mistakes. Like I say, I'm a total noob when it comes to stuff like this. But we all start somewhere.

Few questions:
- Why do I not need fast ram or lots of it?
- I've never overclocked before, any advice on how not to screw it up for a first timer?
- Any recommendations for coolers and power supplies?

I forgot to add in an SSD, so apologies on my behalf for that.

because fast ram doesnt increase your performance a lot in games and will void your intel warranty since they dont recommend any ram above 1.5v

more ram does nothing to increase gaming performance. its only useful when you video edit

overclocking is pretty easy since there are a ton of guides online on how to do it. if you are not too sure or want more clarification, you can ask questions at the overclocking secton of the forum.

as of now you should be able to get 4.2ghz to 4.5ghz with that noctua cooler. voltage bumps could be required.

if you are really paranoid, you can buy intel overclocking warranty so if you fry your chip, intel will replace it

look at my build. they are all my recommendations

Ah sweet, well thanks again for the advice. I'll look over your build and look into overclocking before buying anything, I'm not going to rush into buying anything any time soon.
