System Usage from Most to Least Important: gaming > server side programming > virtual machines
Are you buying a monitor: No
Do you need to buy OS: yes
Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Amazon, ebuyer
Location: London, UK
Parts Preferences: Intel i5, 8 gigs of ram min
SLI or Crossfire: no (may look into it in the future though)
Why Are You Upgrading: Desperately need a new a gaming pc as well as a pc that is capable of dealing with large code base programming (my IDE will eat up 1.5 gigs of ram alone and the program itself takes up approx 2gigs). The gaming aspect is more important to me so a build with a better gfx card would be preferable. The programming is entirely backend based so no need for a fancy industry standard gfx card for rendering.
Your probably going to have to go to the manufactures site to see if those boards down below support IDE. Seeing how IDE drives were pretty much dead years ago and then some you might have to go to a higher end board. Or you could just move everything from that HD to a normal SATA drive and go with that.
