Approximate Purchase Date: ASAP

Budget Range: Approx. £800 (Including monitor, preferably with a little room also for kb+m)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Gaming and general use such as word processing and browsing of the internet.

Are you buying a monitor: Yes

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Scan, unless you know of somewhere cheaper with UK delivery.

Location: Somerset, England

Parts Preferences: Intel Quad Core

Overclocking: Maybe (budget dependent; struggle to fit K version in with additional cost of mobo)

SLI or Crossfire: No

Your Monitor Resolution: Would like a 1920x1080 monitor, looking at BenQ-G2222HDL

Additional Comments: Hope to play the upcoming releases of Total War: Rome 2 and ARMA III as well as Guild Wars 2 and the older Total War games. I'd prefer a case that's ugly with good airflow and low noise levels to something aesthetically pleasing. Nothing else looks particularly good in my room, it won't be out of place.

Why Are You Upgrading: Wanted to build something to play games on for a while, having been stuck with a prebuit. Now I find I also need to buy myself a new computer to take to Uni and figure now's the time to spend money while I have it.

I have started to look at parts and this is what I have so far:

Case: Zalman Z9-U3 Mid Tower Performance Case

CPU: Intel i5 3470 3.2ghz

GPU: 2gb XFX Radeon HD 7850 DD edition (Currently out of stock, an alternative would be good considering I don't know how long until they will be restocked)

HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda SATA 6Gb/s 7200rpm 64mb Cache 8ms NCQ OEM

RAM: 8gb DDR2 Corsair Vengeance Jet Black Low Profile

PSU: Antec NEO ECO Modular PSU 520w

Mobo: Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H

Monitor: BenQ-G2222HDL 21.5 Inch LED Back-Light

Thanks and sorry about the original thread not being to your liking, I hope it is now. I was unable to edit the last one.

Hmmm.. Need to do the changes -

Some suggestions - Instead of getting Vengeance, I recommend you get G.Skill RipJaws X. Also, Spend a little extra and get the Z77 UD5H motherboard or Asus P8Z77-V Pro instead. They're MUCH better than the D3H. Also, the video card you selected is great, but I recommend you go with the MSI 7850 TwinFrozr III OC Edition.

AND ALSO, Instead of SCAN, go with www.ebuyer.com

Another thing, I recommend you get the i5 3570K - Which is the best CPU for gaming. Seriously. Get this! For sure!

Just stretch your arms a little and spend a little extra and get the perfect thing.

The best CPU you can get for gaming is a i5 3570k on a performance to money ratio, so I would defo get that. I would get the radeon 7850 too as I have it and it is great for the price, plus they have came down £30 to £150 now which is awesome. :) The CPU and GPU then can be overclocked in say 2-3 years time giving you extra bang for your £££.

Think you will should also get the Z77-D3H as you are on a tight budget and need to cut back some places.

EDIT: the case i have is of great build quality and comes with a case fan for around £35 it is a coolmaster elite 430.
