Ok, so I don't know anything about UK stores or prices. But here's a rig I put together really fast that will hopefully get you on the right path:

http://pcpartpicker.com/p/ck4t

It's got an IB i5, GTX 670, 1 TB HDD, 650W PSU, 8 GB 1600 RAM, and will be a good computer. It comes in at $1150ish US. I didn't choose a monitor because I don't know anything about decent monitors.

For a cheaper video card, go for an AMD (Sapphire is a good manufacturer) 7000 series. Solid performers, but below the 670... but also considerably cheaper. Unfortunately Nvidia doesn't really have any cards in the "low high-end" range.

Well from ebuyer UK what 700 quid (no OS/LCD) can get ya ^^ This is a simple stock/No OC build
