£500 First Build - Need Reassurance

Hello there,

This is going to be my first custom build and I would just like to make sure is compatible before I buy the parts as I can't afford to waste any money.

My main concerns would be the GFX card and the PSU. I need to make sure the card will fit inside the case and if the PSU has enough connectors to power everything. As far as I'm aware the parts should come with the appropriate cables/connectors, so that shouldn't be a problem.

Case - £35.46
IN WIN Griffin Black Mid Tower Computer Case

CPU - £105.13
AMD CPU FX Series 6100 Black Edition Six Core Processor Bulldozer

Motherboard - £56.36
Gigabyte GA-970A-DS3 Motherboard

Memory £34.56
Corsair Memory 8GB DDR3 1333 Mhz CAS 9 Dual Channel Desktop

Hard Drive - £67.32
Seagate 1TB SATA 3 ST1000DM003 Performance Hard Drive OEM

Graphics Card - £95.82
XFX HD 6850 AMD Radeon Graphics Card - 1GB

PSU - £54.72
Thermaltake TR2 Series TR-600P 600W V2.3 & EPS 12V 2.91 80 PLUS BRONZE Certified PSU

I will also be using a 1366x768 resolution monitor if that helps.

More about 500 build reassurance
  1. I'd think I would scrap that whole build - that's not really a good case choice, Thermaltake makes junk power supplies, and the AMD FX is far surpassed by its' Intel counterpart in just about every benchmark you can throw at it.

    For £500 try this:

    Case: Cooler Master Elite 430 - £38.92
    PSU: XFX Core Edition 550W - £47.46
    Motherboard: Asus P8H77-V LE - £75.32
    CPU: 3.3Ghz Intel Core i3-2120 - £92.58
    RAM: 8GB Kingston Hyper X 1600MHz 1.5V - £41.76
    HD: 500GB Seagate Barracuda ST 7200 RPM - £87.00
Optical: Sony DVD Burner - £13.00
    Video Card: Gainward NVIDIA GTX GT640 2GB - £84.77

    Total: £491.00

More info on the GPU - it's the lowest end Keppler GPU you can get but it still beats the low end Radeons in the range: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-gt-640-review,3214.html
