Last response: in Systems

Hi All,

I am now trying to build a new gaming PC.... Need your help in choosing components!

----------------------------------
Approximate Purchase Date: ASAP

Budget Range: ~£900

System Usage: gaming

Parts Not Required: keyboard, mouse, monitor, speakers, OS, DVDRW

Preferred Website(s) for Parts:UK-based retailer

Country: UK

Overclocking: Yes, only a little I guess :)

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe
----------------------------------

I have had some components in my mind:

CPU: i5-3570K
RAM: G.Skill 8GB (2 x 4GB) ARES DDR3 1600MHz
SSD: Crucial M4 64GB
HDD: Seagate 1TB Barraccuda
Graphic Card: Sapphire HD 7850 OC

:bounce:
So questions for the other components:

Mobo: What is the best choice?
CPU FAN: Any suggestion?
Case: Any suggestion? how is Cooler Master HAF 912?
PSU: how much do I need?Does 650W overkill?

And which online seller should I buy those components from (based in UK)....

Thank you!

Mobo:I like asus..get a Z77 prob

Cpu fan:cooler master hyper 212

Case:that is a good choice

650W is plenty haha

How about Gigabyte Z77 mobo?

Does this fan fit into the case?

if 650W is way higher, how much do I need? 500W or even lower?

Gigabyte is another great brand of mobos, the hyper 212 should fit without problems, and the price difference between the 650 and 500 W isnt worth downgrading. Id say get the 650 W in case you want to xfire 7850's. The only pull like 110W under strain so that would be enough to xfire down the road.

Will the PSU run at 500W if the PC only costs 500W, or it runs at 650W regardless how much watts the PC requires?

Thanks for your reply!

I imagine it will supply the power needed at the time..im not certain but I assume that it doesnt just waste power.

Thank you for your reply.

Why did you recommend 750W? Can it adjust its watt-cost down when the PC requires less?

And is the Mobo good compared to ASUS and gigabyte Z77 ones?

Thx

A power supply only puts out the wattage that's called for at the time. Also those Asrock boards are solid. They are the #3 selling boards behind Asus and Gigabyte and soon to catch Gigabyte for #2.
