£400 or $630 pc ideas?

Hey guys, just looking for a few ideas, my birthday is next month and I want to build myself a computer

Approximate Purchase Date: End of April

Budget Range: £400 - $630

System Usage from Most to Least Important: Video editing/rendering, Non-taxing gaming (eg Terraria), browsing.

Parts Not Required: Keyboard, Monitor, Mouse, Operating System

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: Aria.co.uk, scan.co.uk, anything else with a decent reliability UK based

Country: UK

Parts Preferences: I know it'd be ridiculous to try and get into this super low budget, but I would like (if possible) a 2500k squeezed into that budget (just because I want to be future proofed and 4cores>2cores for my editing.)

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: No

Monitor Resolution: 1024*768 (I'll be upgrading in the future, using my old 19inch LCD TV for now, to cut costs down, I have a tiny room, so I don't mind the small resolution / screen size)

Additional Comments: I know I won't get a graphics card of any value + a 2500k, but until I get more money, I think I'd like a computer that is powerful CPU wise and kinda future proof, so when I get some more cash I can buy a GPU and a monitor :)

More about 400 630 ideas
  1. i5-3570k will be here in may, so what about that
  2. What's the price point going to be of the ivybridge models? and what about the other components / costs? Thanks for your reply by the way
  3. 3570k may costs equal to 2500k, h61,h67,p67,z68,z75,h77,z77 will support ivy and sandy too
    will use less power
    will support pcie v3.0
  4. Sounds swanky, think I'll be able to get one with my super low budget? :)
  5. yes you can have it in your budget.
I5-3570k have hd4000 which is equal to and better than some low end graphics card like hd6570.

But you will have to wait.
  6. Well I have to wait until my birthday anyways, thanks for your advice! :)
So an i5-3570k and what other components would you suggest?
  7. Sadly £400 wont get you half as far as $630 would, but still, I think something along the lines of i3-2100/2120 along with a mid range graphics card should be do-able on a £400 budget.

Overclocking isn't going to be a possibility unless you shoot for K series Intel CPU, or go AMD, which unless is unavoidable, I would recommend stick with the Intel build.
