I would recommend you get a AMD Processor, they have a very good Cost/Performance Ratio.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/AMD-Bulldozer-FX-6100-Socket-Processor/dp/B005UBNKWO/ref=dp_ob_title_ce - £100

For a graphics card I would get some sort of GTX 560ti, it's a good card and can play most things at high/max
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Asus-GeForce-560TI-DirectCUII-Graphics/dp/B004K8R8DA/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1327488761&sr=1-1 - £170

I think the Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 is a good choice, it seems to be a reliable AM3+ motherboard, and it has everything you need on it.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Gigabyte-990FXA-UD3-SKT-AM3-Motherboard-Rev/dp/B00545BZOG/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1327494037&sr=1-1 - £115

For the case I would get something like a CM Storm Scout, great airflow and it looks attractive and isn't too expensive.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Storm-Mid-Tower-Scout-Case/dp/B0027YSEBE/ref=sr_1_4?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1327494319&sr=1-4 - £60

Memory is extremely cheap right now, so you should get 8gb. Corsair Vengeance Memory is great, I'm using it right now, no problems.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Corsair-CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9-1600MHz-Vengeance-Memory/dp/B004CRSM4I/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1327494434&sr=1-1 - £40

Hard disks are very expensive atm, I just bought WD 1tb SATA-III Caviar Black, cost me £120 when it would normally cost £60. It's a great HDD though, very fast.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-WD1002FAEX-Caviar-Internal/dp/B0036Q7MV0/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1327494981&sr=1-1 - £120
Or you could wait until March (when HDD prices should come down) to buy it, and just use your old HDD in this for the time being.
There is also smaller HDD's like this,
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Western-Digital-Caviar-SATAIII-Internal/dp/B00461G3MS/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1327495358&sr=1-1 £70/£40

I love corsair so I would recommend a corsair PSU. They are slightly more expensive than most but they are very reliable. I'm using a Corsair GS700, I think you would be fine with a GS600 (600w).

You should get a fast 24X DVDRW because they're extremely cheap.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/LiteOn-IHAS224-19-Lite--DVD-RW-LightScribe/dp/B002CHRAS4/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1327495904&sr=1-1 - £15

I'm not really sure about the CPU cooler. I would recommend the CM Hyper 212 Plus, but I've heard there can problems with the copper plate not covering the whole CPU,
it's extremely good value for money though.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cooler-Master-Hyper-212-Plus/dp/B002G1YPH0/ref=sr_1_1?s=computers&ie=UTF8&qid=1327495600&sr=1-1 - £20 (It's not in stock for long on amazon)

I realise this is really pushing your budget (going over it a bit I think) but it'll be well worth it, and I don't think I've forgotten anything >.>
I just recently bought almost a whole PC off of amazon, all of it had free postage so I saved quite a bit.
