£450 gaming build

Hey , I was just wondering how this build will run games like black ops, bf2, and battlefield 3 on a 1920x1080p monitor

For gaming use an X4 phenom , and a stronger graphics card

a 955 and a 6870 should fit the same budget

agreed the x6 will have no benefit for gaming whereas a 6870 will

How would the x6 and 6850 combo compare to the x4 6870 for general use and gaming?

for general use they would feel identical but in gaming the 6870 system would pull away

games dont make much , or any, use of extra cores .

The X6 may be faster in some encoding tasks , but to me thats meaningless because I dont sit there watching encoding . I get up and have a coffee.
But the reverse is true for gaming .....

I heard that the 6850 is better for oc'ing is this true?

nope even if it overclocked higher it would still be slower as it has less stream processors (the graphics equivalent of cores)

CPU's are not as important as the graphics card at 1080p resolution .

Get a competent X4 phenom and spend every penny you have on the graphics card
