Finalizing my gaming build (£500 budget)

Hello, I will be getting my gaming build in about 3 weeks and i just wanted to see if everything is going to work together.

XFX ATI Radeon 6870 1GB GDDR5 -

AMD Phenom II X4 955 Black Edition 3.2Ghz

Antec 300 -

Gigabyte GA-870A-USB3L (Socket AM3) -

Corsair 600W Builder Series -

4GB Mushkin Blackline DDR3 (2x2) -

1TB Seagate Barracuda Sata III drive -

I have a few more questions;

1) The case that i'm getting comes with 2 fans, will i need to get more? Bearing in mind this is a gaming pc.
2) Will this build be powerful enough to run games like; World of Warcraft, Empire total war and Counter Strike:source all on max/high settings?

Thanks, Calvin.

  1. For single card, drop the PSU down to a CX430/500, your system shouldnt draw over 250W on load.

For crossfire, get a dual X8 board, like this:
    Does SLI too.

    To answer your question:
    1. If you don't OC then 2 fans is plenty. If you do, get a CPU cooler.
    2. At 1080p or below. yes for most games.
  2. I won't be doing crossfire or SLI but thanks for considering that. Also i will be playing on a 1366x738 monitor.
  3. You are actually slightly overspecced for 1366*768, meaning that you should be able to play demanding games on high with good frames.
  4. Okay, on css (not sure about other games) I don't think there is a option for 1366*768 so which one should i pick?
  5. There certainly should be an option. If not, force the res in the shortcut. if that STILL doesn't work, try something like 1280x768, or 1280x720 if you can.
  6. Okay, thanks striker i've noticed you've helped me alot recently :P
  7. Lol, it's no problem. Bros don't let bros play at a low res :D
  8. :P Do you also think that 2 fans with the antec 300 would be enough?
  9. Yes. But I think the 300 has 3 fans at least.... 2 in the front, 1 in the back?
  10. Hm, it comes with one in the back and one on the top.
  11. Ahh ok. You COULD add another in the front if you want. I think it should be just fine.
  12. Cooling System

    1 rear 120 x 25 mm TriCool™ Fan with 3-speed switch control
    1 top special 140 x 25 mm TriCool™ Fan with 3-speed switch control
2 front (optional) 120 mm fans to cool the hard drives
1 side (Optional) 120 x 25 mm Fan to cool graphic cards
Washable air filters reduces dust build up in your system, which helps keep your system cooler
Perforated front bezel for maximum air intake
  13. yeah ok. Should be fine, but you can add one in the front if things ever get hot.
  14. Okay will do :) what settings could i play crysis at?
  15. Not sure. I suggest you go look up some benchmarks with that GPU and CPU for your res.
  16. Okay so that build looks okay to you? (forgot to include disk drive)
  17. Yup! I would swap the HDD for a Spinpoint F3 (better drive) but it's up to you. I would not change anything else! (except maybe change the case to a HAF 912, but get the Antec :D)
